When the M3M Foundation approached SYimpact to design an awareness campaign around HPV vaccination, we knew a standard pamphlet or a poster session wasn’t going to cut it. Cervical cancer, the disease HPV vaccination protects against remains one of the most preventable yet most under-discussed health issues in semi-urban and rural India. In communities like Tauru, in Haryana’s Nuh district, conversations around it are often layered with silence, stigma, and simple lack of information.
So instead of talking at communities, we decided to invite them to play.
The Idea: Learning Through Play
SYimpact designed a complete IEC (Information, Education, Communication) toolkit for the M3M Foundation, built entirely around the idea that health information sticks best when it’s fun, familiar, and shared. The kit included:
- A Snakes & Ladders board, reimagined with HPV facts, myths, and prevention steps at every square
- A Ludo board game, turning a household favourite into a tool for spreading awareness
- Flashcards and quiz cards for quick, interactive learning sessions
- Audio-visual content and animated reels to reach younger audiences and social media
- An original awareness song, written to make the message easy to remember and share
Every element was designed to travel into schools, community halls, health camps, and homes, carried by the games people already know how to play.

Taking It to the Ground
The toolkit came alive on 5th May 2026, on the occasion of Sarvodaya Diwas, at an event organised by the M3M Foundation at Malti Vatika, Sainipura, in Tauru. The event marked three years of the Sarvodaya programme and brought together local officials, health department representatives, and most importantly the sarpanches and community members who would go on to use these tools in their own villages.
Sarpanches and attendees played the games themselves before the toolkit was formally rolled out for village-level awareness drives across the Tauru block. The Foundation’s leadership spoke about why the format mattered: as a trust built by a doctor, they were acutely aware of how deadly cervical cancer can be and how much silence still surrounds it. A playful, non-intimidating format was their way of breaking through that silence and shifting mindsets, one game at a time.

Making News
The campaign’s reach went beyond the villages it was designed for. NDTV India featured the initiative, with SYimpact’s Director speaking about the thinking behind the toolkit and the broader role of creative, community-first design in CSR and social impact work.

The event also found coverage in the local press, with Gurgaon Today running a detailed report on the launch, the games developed in collaboration with SYimpact, and the officials and dignitaries who attended.

Why It Matters
This project reflects something SYimpact believes in deeply: that behaviour change communication works best when it meets people where they are culturally, linguistically, and emotionally. A board game doesn’t feel like a lecture. A song stays in a child’s head long after a pamphlet is thrown away. And a quiz card passed between friends can start a conversation that a formal session never could.
For a subject as sensitive and as urgent as HPV vaccination, that difference matters. We’re proud to have helped the M3M Foundation turn a public health message into something communities in Tauru could pick up, play, and pass on.
